How long is wine in a box good for after it is opened?
I have a box of wine in my fridge, been there opened for probably 4 months. Is it still good?
Yea probably, I’ve had box wine that long before. Poor some in the glass. If it still smells ok it’s probably ok but if it smells sour then it has probably gone bad. You should be fine.

If it's the kind of box with the airtight bag inside, it's probably fine.

Listen up, wine snobs, boxed wine has come a long way since those days of Franzia cheap white zinfandel! I like boxed wine. Now that I'm nursing a newborn again, a box is perfect for my husband and me. We can pour out half a glass at a time and it lasts forever and tastes fine.

Do you mean the box wine with the little tab that you push in on (like a cooler), or the box wine that is more of a carton with a screw top? The first one is probably safe, since air can’t get through the seal as easily. The other one is a bit more iffy.
I’d suggest pouring some and giving it a sniff. If it smells okay, taste it. If it tastes okay, drink it. Wait. If you don’t get sick or start hallucinating/twitching, you can probably have a full glass.

I am a total wine nerd (certified) and I can honestly vouch for the PQR value of boxed wine. I use it for cooking and it takes me a month to run through a box, all the while I drink some. It really never goes “bad” in a bacterial sence and lasts way longer than wine in the bottle. Officially, you are good at a week. After that it will diminish in flavor. Compare this to 24 hours (or less) for most wines in bottle without the vacuum pump or nitrogen spray. Boxed wine is perfect for the every day wine drinker on a budget.
